Last month I was invited by Meliá Hotels & Resorts to visit Yogyakarta, Indonesia to stay at their two iconic properties in the city. The first hotel I visited was the INNSIDE by Meliá Yogyakarta, and the second one is Meliá Purosani Yogyakarta which is one of the icons of Meliá Hotels & Resorts in Indonesia. This review and tips are related to my stays at the Level Room Meliá Purosani Yogyakarta.
I was picked up by the hotel shuttle service. My kind driver is dressed in a traditional reference uniform of the region. Such a unique detail and treatment. Upon arrival, I was surprised by the glance of this newly-refurbished 5-star urban resort hotel. It looks even better than before. A more modern but yet keeping the heritage looks of one of the first five stars luxury hotel in the city. Warm greetings followed and continued during my stays.
MELIÁ PUROSANI Yogyakarta
Meliá Purosani is positioned in the city centre which is just a short minutes walk to the Malioboro shopping area. Meliá Purosani is the perfect hub for urban & luxury travellers. The hotels are also an excellent location point to visit the famous landmarks of the city such as the Sultan Palace, Tamansari Water Castel, the majestic Prambanan temple and the breathtaking Borobudur, the world’s largest Buddhist temple and a UNESCO world heritage monument.
The Level Room Meliá Purosani Yogyakarta
I stayed three nights at the Level Room Meliá Purosani which the superior personalised service at The Level such as afternoon tea & cocktails is included. The room and the bathroom were spacious. Comfortable bed and inviting cushions. While the bathroom was marble heaven, the room is decorated with warm cream coloured paint and wooden flooring. Great view of the tropical garden and pool.
Tip 1: The Junoir Suite will give you spacious living room on the lower level and a balcony to enjoy the view from your room in the upper level of the room.
Tip 2: Ask the room with the view of Yogyakarta city and the majestic Merapi mountain as a backdrop.
Private Check-in for The Level Room Meliá Purosani
The Level Room of Meliá Purosani is positioned on the sixth floor which is entirely dedicated for this type of room. All the guests staying at the Level Room, they have an exclusive check-in desk at the Level Lounge which is also where the afternoon tea and cocktails are served.
Entering the hotel will take you away from the busy city centre of Yogyakarta with its luxury and warm ambience with the elegance and rich marbles and crystals. I suddenly forgot that I was in the city centre. Everything was on point, urban, modern, luxury but yet Javanese heritage everywhere. The feeling of coming home but to your elegant home somewhere in South East Asia.
The Pool & YHI Spa
The ultimate place for relaxation is the pool, enough sunbathing spots, sounds of waterfall feature and beautiful green tropical garden. I almost think that I was somewhere in the middle of a forest. I really can’t remember that I heard any cars or motorcycle engines. The Meliá Purosani has a wellness spa called the YHI Wellness spa. Hopefully next time I can have a spa day at the YHI Spa.
The spa quality of the amenities is delightful. I even brought some home. What I love more is the own coffee machine in the room. As one of coffee fanatics, a good cup of coffee available anytime I need is such an essential detail for me.
The Restaurants & Bar Lounges
To be able to have three restaurants and two bar lounges are exceptional for a hotel in Yogyakarta. The El Patio Restaurant is the restaurant where most guest will encounter the delicious variety of International, Asian and Indonesian foods at breakfast. The restaurant was refurbished with now an even beautiful view of the tropical garden, the pool and a lotus pond.
The second restaurant is the Chinese restaurant; Ching San. I have not experienced the Cantonese and the Szechuan cuisine from this restaurant yet. But the Ching San Chinese Restaurant is recognised as one most exceptional Chinese Cuisine in Yogyakarta city.
The third restaurant is the Parangsari Poolside Restaurant which is located int he garden next to the pool and offers only small snacks and refreshing drinks. The restaurant is an open-air restaurant.
While restaurants are sometimes a little bit too formal to enjoy snacks and drinks with family and friends, The Pub Med and Soka Lounge offers a relax and comfortable atmosphere.
In addition to the nearby Malioboro Street, the Meliá Purosani host an array of speciality shops in the building. From traditional art pieces, batik, souvenirs, local snacks and tour and travel agency are available in the shopping hall.
The shops at Meliá Purosani Yogyakarta are Sido Mukti Gallery, Batik Mangkoro, Cake Shop (don’t forget to get your Purosani Bakpia) and Astrindo Tour.
Now that I am thinking about it, I should do this hotels visit and reviews since the beginning. It is not only the travelling to a new place, but meeting new people. It was such a great experience I had with the Meliá Hotels & Resorts. It was not only the relaxing and luxurious properties. It was the people. I had great conversations with the General Manager of the hotel, the Public Relations professionals and Guest Experiences Manager. I learned a lot from my conversation with them.
I can say that Meliá Purosani Hotel is my choice location to explore and indulge in the city’s colourful culture and diversity. To know more about the cuisine, rich heritage and magnificent nature of Yogyakarta which is filled with immense Javanese charm.
MELIÁ PUROSANI, THE STUNNING BEAUTY ON THE ISLAND OF JAVA.
“Infused with immense Javanese charm, the Meliá Purosani is a welcoming hotel that is conveniently nestled in the centre of Yogyakarta. Offering superior comfort, fully personalised service and natural beauty, all at your fingertips.” ~ Meliá Purosani
